Resort Management Diploma (Dive)

As you may already know, scuba diving is an exciting and dynamic recreational activity supporting a global industry that continues to experience growth worldwide. As a result of this ongoing expansion, the dive industry requires highly skilled, well-qualified dive professionals with appropriate tourism, hospitality, boating and marine management skills.

Dive Centre Manly in partnership with William Angliss Institute has developed the internationally recognised Diploma of Resort Management (Dive) in conjunction with representatives of hospitality, tourism and boating industries. As a result, all key players have managed to bridge the gap between industry demands and appropriate training. The program provides participants with a unique career path opportunity combining highly regarded hospitality, tourism management and resort operation qualifications with dive instructor-level training.

Hospitality training includes:

• Food & Beverage
• Customer service and sales
• Resort Reception Services
• Office Procedures

Business training includes:

• Financial
• Legal
• Marketing

Management training includes:

• Human Resources
• Safety & Risk Procedures
• Property Management

Students will obtain:

• Open Water Diver
• Advanced Open Water Diver
• Rescue Diver
• Dive Master
• Coxswains qualification
• Marine Radio Operator

Students will become intructors in:

• Diving
• Snorkelling
• First Aid
• Coxswains

In their first year all students attend a Queensland industry study tour where they apply the skills learned and view best practice industry operators at work. Topics covered will include tour guiding and industry experience in dive operations. In second year an optional overseas tour is available so that students can observe international best practice operators in the field and attend targeted industry events.

In second year subjects are oriented towards management and students will have the opportunity to go on an overseas study tour.
Conducted as weekly sessions, PADI training takes place progressively from the recreational levels of Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver, through to the professional level of Divemaster and then on to the Instructor Development Course. Instruction is also given in equipment maintenance and marine interpretation, and a three-week Coxswains training course.

Students will complete the hospitalaity business & mangement training at the newly refurbished William Angliss premises which includes 9 classrooms and 3 commercial training kitchens whilst the diving compnewnt will be conducred at Dive Centre Manly.
