Solomon Islands – Uepi Island Resort 8 – 15 June 2018
Described by James A Michener as “the eighth wonder of the world” the spectacular Marovo Lagoon in the New Georgia Island group, boasts magnificent fish, sponges and corals.
Uepi Island Resort is an idyllic Pacific island setting with breathtaking snorkeling & diving right off the shore. If you would like to experience hammerheads, reef sharks, rays, barracudas, rare tropical critters, vertical drop offs of over 600 metres and even some wrecks — this is the place to be! Depending on the currents, you can even do some thrilling drift dives or just stay stationary at one of the deep points, attach your reef hook and watch the food chain in front of you.
The walls, reefs, pinnacles and coral gardens of Solomon Islands support an amazing variety and quantity of sea creatures. The varieties of fish are staggering. Within a few yards of each other, individually or in schools you will see anemone fish, angel fish, butterfly fish, humphead parrot fish and other reef dwellers while just a short distance away schools of barracuda, big-eye trevally and other pelagics cruise in the blue waters.
