From Panic to Paradise

“Perhaps it was odd to take up scuba diving at 60 years old, with a phobia about getting my face wet? Suffice to say, the first dips in the DCM pool and at Shelly Beach were no picnic, for Richard Nicholls the instructor, or me. Richard Nicholls was unfailingly kind, gently persuasive, and confident he could teach me to scuba dive. He suggested extra pool sessions. After some counselling and one on one diving lessons, I was PADI Open Water certified. I haven’t looked back, in fact I have now gone on to complete my Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certification with Dive Centre Manly. DCM is a great place to learn to dive.

The courses are thorough, the teaching style relaxed and fun. And they result in well educated, safe and enthusiastic divers. Their ongoing program of social events, lectures and local and far flung diving trips help divers continue to improve and learn.

Anytime you stop in the shop you are enthusiastically greeted, they make you feel like a friend, not just a customer. I can whole heartedly recommend Dive Centre Manly to anyone interested in learning to snorkel or dive, even if you have a phobia!”
